Reducing Environmental Footprint Of Water Industry
03/02/2010
This year will be the fourth European Water and Waste Management Conference, the theme is "Reducing the Environmental Footprint of the Water Industry". It is recognised that the provision of clean drinking water and safe sanitation carries a large environmental burden and the carbon emissions from the industry are similar to that of the aviation industry. However a lot is being done to reduce this impact and the technological challenges this poses is likely to lead to new opportunities for innovative solutions.
Thus we are inviting Abstracts that address this theme, across the spectrum of the water and wastewater treatment industry and we hope to organise sessions that cover: • Legislatory Overview • The Sewer as a Solids Transport System • Improving Water Management • Pumps and Pumping • Potable Water Treatment • Resource Recovery • Carbon and Energy Management • On Site Generation of Renewable Energy • Innovation • Sensors and Instrumentation
Individuals interested in contributing should provide a 150 word abstract that includes: • The title of the presentation/paper • A summary of the contribution • Identify the key theme • Name and full contact details for all presenters/authors
Abstracts should be submitted by email to sarahhickinson@aquaenviro.co.uk by the 26th March 2010.
The conference will take place from 27th to 28th September 2010 in Leeds, UK.
When an oil spill occurs, the challenge is clearing out of the oil fast and secure. Seaswarm is a possible solution to this dilemma. Robotic cleaning instruments absorb the oil and move independently and autonomously. They can communicate between them and coordinate their actions. The supplier claims the job will be done efefctively.
