| There is only one way to increase the stock of fresh water and it is by desalinating salt water. This is an old story but new is that today we have the technology to do it with concentrated solar power, sustainable and economical. Learn and debate about it at the symposium: Water production in the Southern World with CSP, which is to be held in Rotterdam, on 18th November 2009. |

Questions to ask are abundant in number. What is the cost? What about the problem of the brine. Which method: direct heating or reverse osmosis with the sun as power provider, or the Memstill technology?
Where this was too expensive with the traditional methods, there is now a solution with the help of a little bit of sun. Concentrated solar power can be the answer. A lot of problems need to be solved, a lot of questions are still unanswered, but there are possibilities.
This is what this symposium is about: looking at the realistic, concrete possibilities of fresh water production for the arid areas at an economical acceptable prize.
