European Water Conference Report

  07/08/2009
The 2nd European Water Conference took place on 2 and 3 April 2009 in Brussels (Belgium). This event, organised by the European Commission, was a milestone in the European debate on the preparation of the River Basin Management Plans.

The background document for the conference was prepared by consultants to the Commission, and gives a first informal overview of the draft RiverBasin Management Plans available early this year. It addresses the public participation process, the ambition of draft plans, use of exemptions and key issue such as agriculture, hydromorphology and Available in English.

The report of the conference is now available and a summary of key findings are also available in all EU languages. The views expressed in these documents do not necessarily represent the views of the Commission, but the aim of the process was to encourage the debate and show different viewpoints from a variety of stakeholders in water management at the EU level.
