The delegations brought a visit to the Hoogheemraadschap Delfland for an exchange of their experience. This Hoogheemraadschap (management board) is using an automated planning and maintenance programme. During the first visit, the focus is on the application of information and management: safety, inspection and planning of maintenance. After a demonstration of the management system, the watermanagers visited levees in the arera like the Maeslantkering.
Today, the SLFPA is visiting HKV Lijn in Water, to specify the situation in New Orleans.
Participating with this project, the Netherlands is demonstrating its experience of water-management related information systems. The solution also is useful in other areas in the US where water management systems are in demand. This project is a further reinforcement of the position of the Dutch water sector in the US, supported by the Economical Information Service for the international cooperation relating to the 2g@there programme, aimed to the United States. In September, a Netherlands delegation will visit New Orleans.
