ITT Corporation and Atlas Copco have entered into a worldwide strategic alliance to provide significant energy-saving solutions for municipal wastewater treatment plants. Energy-efficient blowers from Atlas Copco's oil-free Air division are now being jointly offered with ITT aeration and mixer technologies to reduce energy costs by up to 40% in the secondary treatment phase.

ITT has determined that 55% of energy costs at treatment plants are incurred by aeration blowers. This led to the decision to collaborate with a blower manufacturer that specified energy efficiency in its core design.

Rollout of the joint initiative has already occurred in Europe and is now proceeding in North America, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

With its knowledge of energy-efficiency in blower control, Atlas Copco will also support ITT with plant audits, resulting in further optimization of installations and operations.
