Export Dutch Water Sector Increase

  15/04/2009
The Dutch water companies exported EUR6.5 billion in 2008, an increase of 6.8% compared to 2007. The world trade growth in this sector however decreased from 6.7% to 0.9%. These figures are published by EIM on request of the Netherlands Water Partnership.

Land Reclamation is a growth opportunity for Dutch constructors

Entrepreneuers expect to have a more difficult year in 2009, but the order books are relatively well-filled. Opportunities are in the EU, Middle-East and Asia. From all activities, most are in construction (45%), followed by waste water treatment (23%) and water supply (13%).

In the coming years, a shortage of 10 to 12,000 employees is expected which again underlines the opportunities in the market.
