Water Footprint Summit

  08/04/2009
E.N.G.'s (European Networking Group) Water Footprint summit, taking place in Brussels on 5, 6 and 7 May 2009, is triggering high interest. Senior executives from Coca-Cola, Rabobank, WWF, Stora Enso, Denkstatt, EWP, Rhodia, Monsanto and more have already confirmed their participation.

This event will provide tools to assessing water use throughout the global supply chain and to brainstorm with environmental executives who need insights in the challenges and risk in water management. The summit will investigate the role of business versus the role of governments and consumers and will map out the road to shared global standards.

Confirmed experts who will share their compelling stories on ‘water foot printing' include:

Anglo American, Borealis Polymers, Better Sugar Cane Initiative,Cisco Systems, Coca-Cola Europe, Diageo, DSM, European Water Partnership, Henkel, Nestlé, Royal Dutch Shell, SAB Miller, STMicroelectronics, Unilever, Water Footprint Network and WWF.

Comments (1):

What this organization is doing to promote water consciousness is wonderful, but we need to be seeking alternative water sources that do not further pollute the earth----like desalination. Until an effective method is found to safely, ecologically dispose of the brine, that method of water extraction needs to take a back seat.

Air to water technologies are very promising in water production, and do not pollute the planet. This organization should set building, community and water district standards that a certain percentage of water come from the humidity in the air where it is possible using current aquaphysics principles.

If water can be extracted from the air in the Atacama desert in Peru, then it can be extracted from the air virtually anywhere in the world. http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0308/feature3/#know
