Water Companies Receive GIS Award

  15/07/2011
Esri acknowledged the achievements of more than 140 domestic and international organisations with the Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Awards ceremony at the annual Esri International User Conference (Esri UC) in San Diego, California on 13th July 2011. US and international water companies who made use of Esri systems were called onto stage to receive their awards.

Amongst them were from the US: Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority, Charleston Water System and Metropolitan Sewerage District of Buncombe County, NC; and international Empresa Publica Metropolitana de Agua Potable y Saneamiento (Ecuador), National Water Supply & Drainage Board (Sri Lanka), Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa, Qatar) and Waternet (Netherlands).

The SAG Awards acknowledge innovative and intelligent applications of geographic information system (GIS) technology. The winners are announced on a dedicated webpage.

Organisations from around the world honoured at the Esri UC span industries including agriculture, cartography, climate change, defence and intelligence, economic development, education, government, health and human services, telecommunications, and utilities.

"The SAG Awards highlight extraordinary achievements and efforts to improve our world," says Esri president Jack Dangermond. "Each year I look forward to being part of this ceremony. It is a tradition that means a great deal to Esri and to GIS professionals."
