WEDECO Spektron UV Reactors

  15/04/2011
The WEDECO Spektron series of closed-vessel UV reactors raises the standard for the disinfection of drinking water with UV light, which has been proven to be effective in inactivating bacteria, viruses and parasites. A combination of energy-effiecient UV lamps and optimised hydraulic conditions inside the reactor provide a superior disinfection solution.

WEDECO Spektron UV Reactors

The EPA-compliant Spektron product line also meets all the requirements of safe and environmentally friendly water disinfection. A special feature of the Spektron Series is the unique CrossMix module which allows for an enhanced flow capacity per lamp. In addition, the latest generation of electronic ballasts, in conjunction with the proven Spektrotherm® lamp technology, minimizes energy and lamp costs by up to 30%. The Spektron Series is also easy to install within existing buildings due to its multi-positional lap flange.

UV disinfection has been proven worldwide as an important water disinfection process effectively inactivating bacteria, viruses, and parasites, including cryptosporidium and giardia. Now,

WEDECO Spektrotherm lamps emit UV light mainly in the spectral region of 254 nm (nanometers) which is effective for the disinfection of drinking water and wastewater. The special characteristic of the Spektrotherm lamp is its special amalgam/indium doping. Due to this, a constantly high UV light yield is achieved along with a substantially extended lamp service life. In addition, the use of liquid mercury is eliminated.

The Spektrotherm lamp also boasts the highest energy efficiency. The light yield in relation to the energy expenditure is over 40%. A higher light yield also means a lower heat generation at the same time. The Spektrotherm lamp reaches a temperature of just 100°C (212°F) in operation which results in less susceptibility to varying water temperatures. Even surface formation on the quartz sleeves as well as lamp ageing is considerably lower than with alternative UV lamp technologies.
