Partners For Water Project to Improve Danube Floodplains

The main objective of the guideline is to increase the flood protection but also take into account other functions. Dutch Room for the River procedures will be used and translated to the Romanian situation. The guidelines contain all steps and decision-making moments needed to carry out floodplain restoration from conceptual planning to implementation. Romanian and European law and directives are boundary conditions to develop the guidelines.

The consortium will carry out the first step of the guideline for two floodplains along the Danube river as a pilot project. We will also look actively and support the Romanian authorities in order to finance the following steps that are needed to restore the Danube floodplains. HKV CONSULTANTS will deliver hydraulic and morphological expertise as well as general knowledge of the Romanian flood management organisation.
