Portuguese Construction Firm to Enter Wastewater Treatment Market

  30/06/2010
ITT Corporation has secured three complete wastewater treatment plant contracts in Montemor-o-Velho, a municipality of Portugal. Figueira da Foz-based construction company Guilherme Goncalves Correia & Filhos, Lda. (GGC), selected ITT to help drive its emergence into the wastewater treatment arena.

GGC, who partnered with design firm, Centro Tecnologico de Gestao Ambiental (CTGA) to bid on the project, will install ITT's Flygt and Lowara pumps, Sanitaire diffusers coupled with Atlas Copco blowers, and ITT's Wedeco UV reactors at three new wastewater treatment plants throughout Montemor-o-Velho.

When completed, the wastewater systems will ultimately process 1,500 cubic meters of water and wastewater each day, serving a population of 30,000 people in Montemor-o-Velho and the surrounding area.

"These are exactly the kinds of projects where ITT can create and deliver extraordinary value to our customers," said Andre Dhawan, vice president of ITT's Residential and Commercial Water business in Europe. "We have the complete array of energy-efficient products and technologies. Equally important, we have the application expertise in providing integrated solutions for wastewater and clean water pumping backed by the world-class engineering and manufacturing processes of an $11 billion high-technology company."

Construction on the first wastewater treatment plant began in March 2010. Project completion for all three plants is scheduled for first quarter 2011.
