Suez to Build and Operate Drinking Water Treatment Plant

  29/03/2010
Suez Environnement, through its subsidiary Degrémont, and its customer Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB), signed a contract in November 2009 for designing, building and operating (DBO) an extension for the drinking water production plant at the TK Halli site, some 90km from Bangalore, India's Silicon Valley.

After the forecast two-year design-build stage, Degrémont will fully operate and maintain the plant for a period of seven years. This contract represents EUR33 million in turnover, with the design-build part of the project financed by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

The plant, with the capacity to treat 600,000 m3/day of raw water from the Kaveri River, one of the main rivers in southern India, will provide drinking water for more than three million inhabitants of the city of Bangalore. At the end of the planned two-year design-build phase, Degrémont will fully operate and maintain the plant for a period of seven years.
