Integrated Water and Energy Concept

  29/10/2008

Wessel Meijer has developed an European Water & Energy Plan, consisting of large scale production and storage of durable and clean energy. A plan that has a combined approach of challenges with proven technology. A plan that fights increasing drought in the south and increasing water surpluses in the north as well.

Thanks Khalid for your reaction.

To judge economic feasibility many factors should be taken into consideration and be compared. Of course water desalination is one of these factors, although I find desalination rather a short-term solution for the production of potable water. Desalination consumes large amounts of energy and leaves an extremely salty residue. The disadvantages of desalination increase even more in case large amounts of sweet water is needed for irrigation of land.

Also; the large water buffer lakes at various altitudes as I project in my plan are meant to store (surplus) energy that can be withdrawn in case of high energy demands or the sun does not shine or the wind does not blow.

I tried to find something about "Bassin transfer" at Wikipedia but did not find anything. Please clarify what you mean.

Best regards,
WEssel.

Intersting idea, but bassin transfer of water is a controversial idea sea "Bassin transfer" in Wikipedia. For you idea to be economically interesting you need to compare its cost to sea water desalination costs. Khalid (Morocc) - 13/01/2010 - 23:15

I do not understand why nobody has not yet brought my plan to the attention of the world leaders currently struggling to find solutions. Wessel Meijer - 18/12/2009 - 18:36

Dear T. Bakker,

I also anticipate water scarcity (drought) to become the "number 1 problem" of the coming 10 to 30 years. Water distribution and storage; at the same time combined with energy storage, reforesting and employment seems to me a nice and logical way to make a sunny future.
Wessel Meijer - 19/03/2009 - 22:44

Dear T. Bakker,

Thanks for your remarks. Hydrogen is not at all the key factor of this plan; it can be left out completely. Personally I anticipate other (conventional) energy sources to be a massive and dangerous problem to planet earth: global warming, instability of prices, wars.

Dear Mohammad Nawaz Khan,

Thanks for your compliments. More information can be found in the written plan (see the link to the pdf file below).

It is very flattering you would like to deploy my concept in Pakistan. I hope you appreciate I do own (copy) rights on it so it would be important this is recognized and compensated for. i am open to consider your proposals to resolve.

Kind regards,

Wessel Meijer.

Fresh water transportation is an excellent idea.

I am interested to apply the same inside Pakistan where we have water rich regions with huge flood and storm water being lost and water-poor regions where water is unthinkable.

Would you send me the blue print of yoor plan to transport water from Holland to Africa.

Best reagrds

Dear A. Sinha, thanks for your interest. I assume it would be best to offer my synopsis as a download. I will offer a Dutch and an English version to start with.

I will post the down load URL here. Please allow me one (1) day...

Kind regards,

Wessel Meijer

It iappears to be quite interesting proposition. I would like to know the mechanism in more detail . I wonder if it is possible for you to send me english version of literature if any which may give us a more detailed account . A. Sinha - 30/10/2008 - 16:47

Dear Cary, thanks for your interest. I do have a written synopsis in the Dutch language. I will sent you a English version on short term.I will also respond to you personally.

Regards,

Wessel

Wessel,
I am interested in learning more.
Do you have a web site or literature about your proposed program?
